Procurement Specialist - Perfetti Van Melle : Job Details

OVERVIEW Perfetti Van Melle (makers of Mentos and Airheads!) is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum with global brands that are being enjoyed in more than 150 countries worldwide. We're currently seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Procurement Specialist to join our growing team. WHAT YOU WILL DO The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for managing, ensuring compliance, and improving the Purchase Order Process for North America. This role will support all aspects of the purchase order cycle as directed by the Procurement Manager, Senior Buyer, and fellow Procurement Specialists as well as place POs to support the entire North American business. In addition, the Procurement Specialist will ensure expedient delivery of orders through open communication with internal customers and external vendors. This role will also own and manage some minor contracts within the business. Additional responsibilities include:

• Placing orders to replenish materials for all departments upon request.
• Work with Accounting to ensure all invoices are paid per agreed vendor terms.
• Coordinate appropriate delivery date and time with suppliers.
• Provide ongoing communication to internal customers regarding expected delivery date, backorders, and out-of-stocks.
• Communicate credit rejections to vendors, Warehouse and Purchasing Manager, as well as coordinate returns and disposal of rejected materials as necessary.
• Communicate with vendors to resolve issues or concerns with untimely deliveries, damaged product, or incorrect deliverables.
• Maintain open communication with vendors, developing good rapport and partnerships that will benefit the company.
• Research and recommend external vendor selections.
• Source vendors as requested by the Senior Sourcing manager and document competitive bidding for review.
• Evaluate vendor performance against criteria established by the Purchasing Manager, keeping the Purchasing Manager advised of exceptional vendor performance, noted market trends, and unusual conditions or circumstances that may affect replenishment activity.
• Utilize appropriate vendor sources to fill orders as directed.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of equivalent experience required.
• 3+ years of purchasing or manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Proven track record of building relationships with key customers, both internal and external.
• Experience managing and improving a process or system.
• Understanding of Supply chain processes and customer service strategies (planning, sourcing, etc.) preferred.
• Functional knowledge of SAP/ERP systems preferred.
• MS Office Application experience is required.
• Excellent attention to detail, oral and written communication skills.
• Good negotiation, process improvement, and strong quantitative skills.
• Ability to conduct analysis, generate recommendation proposals, and present ideas to Senior Buyers and then implement ideas by working with other functions.
• Strong ability to multitask and prioritize daily activities and outgoing projects.
