The produce department supervisor position is an essential part of our produce team! They provide customers with quality fresh fruits and vegetables in a friendly and courteous manner, ensuring repeat visits to our stores. Essential duties The produce department supervisor plays an important role in the ongoing functions of the produce department. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. The essential duties and responsibilities of the position include: -Reliability- Regular and predictable attendance -Ensures that customers are receiving superior customer service by properly training employees in customer service techniques and ensuring they are knowledgeable about products within the department. -Ensures quality products are available based on customer demand, which includes placing all orders required for the produce department, and managing the inventory.- -Ensures pricing is correct/updated on produce products -Prepares, and trains employees to prepare special orders (i.e. fruit baskets, vegetable trays, etc.) according to the customer's expectations -Monitors products being stocked to ensure they meet or exceed customer expectations -Maintains a thorough knowledge of products in the department, as well as being informed of trends within the industry, and shares this knowledge with all employees within the department -Ensures state and county safety and sanitation standards are met with all equipment, surfaces, and floors within the department and the proper methods are used when handling food. -Trains all employees on safety and sanitation standards and ensures they are followed at all times -Ensures proper training occurs with produce employees -Makes sure the department is adequately staffed at all times, to provide the most optimal customer experience -Verifies products received through deliveries from vendors match orders placed and invoices received -Meets or exceeds profitability goals set by the owner -Communicates effectively with all employees and customers in a friendly and welcoming way -Coaches and encourages employees to do the most efficient productive work, leading by example, and communicating appropriately -Encourages a team environment -Takes inventory and orders needed supplies and products weekly -Maintains a rotation schedule for cleaning, to ensure all produce racks and receptacles are cleaned regularly. -Maintains a positive work environment while spreading our core values What we look for in you: At least 2 years of friendly and welcoming customer service; Produce/Grocery experience required; Exceptional communication skills; Highly motivated individual with the ability to multi-task; Team player with the ability to work independently at times; Focused and efficient; The ability to stand, walk, lift and bend for extended periods of time What we can offer you for all your hard work:
