The person hired for this position will lead the development of a high-performance coatings platform to serve the rapidly growing need for performance coatings in battery packs used in electric vehicles. The individual will collaborate closely with automotive OEMs and battery tier suppliers to identify and implement effective solutions for various components of the electric vehicle's battery pack. Here, you will make an impact by:Developing and commercializing new to-the-world coatings solutions for battery packs to help accelerate the adoption of electric vehiclesLeading New Product Development (NPI) projects as aligned with the key customer needs and business strategyCreating technology and product roadmaps in alignment with market and customer trendsIdentifying and establishing intellectual property positions for technologies that serve to build the business.Interacting closely with global, cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.Assuming leadership role for technical programs of importance within the organization and assisting in the development of other technical employees.Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications (at a minimum):Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionThree (3) years of product engineering or product development in a private, public, government or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institutionPrevious thermal and/or electrical coatings development experienceExperience leading and contributing to cross-functional teamsExperience with New Product Introduction (NPI)Advanced knowledge and understanding in battery technology solutions manufacturing or research and developmentDemonstrated proficiency in design of experiments and other statistical methodsStrong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skillTravel: May include up to 15% domesticRelocation Assistance: Is authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
