About the Role

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To maintain complete understanding of customer product expectations and provide direction to program team to ensure these are met.

Your Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

Responsible for maintaining updated BoM at all times

Responsible for communicating all engineering changes using the ECN Process ensuring a complete and accurate account of the change and all of its impacts are known

Responsible for maintaining direct contact with the customer ensuring all questions and concerns related to product are being addressed in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:

Understand and promote Magna's philosophies and Employee's Charter

Understand customer communication and share with program team and other departments through effective ECN communication

Identify opportunities and offer commercially sound solutions to design related concerns

Provide accurate and thorough analysis of CAD files received from the customer

Develop sound relationships with customer contacts to ensure open lines of communication

Lead the program team in the development and implementation of VAVE ideas to help offset customer LTA expectations

Develop sound relationships with customer contacts, both internal and external, to ensure open lines of communication

Participate in VAVE cost reduction activities as it applies to product design

Develop accurate component level prints with proper application of GD&T to ensure overall assembly requirements are met

Lead the program team in arriving at design solutions for product concerns

Understand product definition and ensure all manufacturing methods are compliant and capable of manufacturing the product at the intended quality level

Work closely with process, quality and tooling engineers to develop optimum manufacturing strategy

Ensure all early stage prototype parts meet full customer expectations through visual inspection of product prior to release for shipment

Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing process

Monitor and maintain good housekeeping

Follow all plant safety policies and procedures

Perform other duties as required

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Must have excellent mathematical, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written)

Ability to work in a team environment

Ability to develop good working relationships with customers

Ability to meet deadlines

Ability to handle multiple demands

Willingness to travel

Must be willing to work extended or flexible hours as needed to meet customer requirements

Must have knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance

Must have a good working knowledge of stamping and welding processes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Some of the physical demands of this position include the ability to lift 40 pounds, the ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time, and occasional bending and stooping.

EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED:

Some of the equipment and tools used are computer, telephone, fax machine, copier/printer, and a projector.

KNOWLEDGE:

Computer skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Projects

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required

Bachelor's Degree in engineering, or equivalent experience

TECHNICAL TRAINING:

AutoCAD and CAD viewer programs

SDRC IDEAS, CATIA, or Unigraphics formats

WORK EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment
