PURPOSE OF POSITION:
* Spanish language speaking proficiency required.
* To train, recruit and manage production support engineers.
* To ensure that all processes and equipment are designed and implemented with state-of-the-art technologies which allow the product to be assembled with the highest quality and efficiency to meet customer demand.
* To develop work teams dedicated to continuous improvement, which can work within company policy to exceed the customer's requirements of quality and meet the quantity needs of the customer.
* The group leader communicates the company's objectives and interfaces between the associates and the company.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Optimize standard work methods and see that they are clearly defined and optimized for each operation.
* Emphasize and show commitment to continuous improvement.
* Monitor production process to improve product flow.
* Eliminate variation in the production process caused by equipment and/or product design.
* Determine and implement these process improvements.
* Optimize the current equipment and improve process capabilities.
* Develop new processes, which will improve the quality of the product and decrease the cycle time to produce the product.
* Concentrate on corrective action by looking below the surface to find root cause (5 Why's, 8D's).
* Take corrective action seriously. Design fixturing, which will assist in producing a quality product by identifying when the product was assembled/processed incorrectly, and other possible tools for the workstations.
* Work with other associates to permanently resolve quality issues, line rejects/field returns.
* Create a friendly environment, which eliminates fear and intimidation and fosters continuous improvement, team growth and maturity.
* Interface with other departments on the production groups' behalf to ensure that company quality standards and customer requirements are met.
* Coach team leaders to promote both team and individual growth.
* Plan the production to meet our customer demands while maintaining the high level of product quality required by the customer.
* Supervise teams including hiring, evaluating performance and exercising discipline as outlined by company policy.
* Reduce line inefficiency in both personnel and W-I-P.
* Provide resources and remove barriers allowing teams to be effective.
* Become a mentor to team leaders and process engineers utilizing each other's skills (people skills/technical skills), encouraging co-management of line operations.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Take product from design stage to full production as a team member of new product launches.
* Train and lead teams in problem solving.
* Assist in development of Control Plans, FMEA's, Process Flow Charts and Assembly Drawings.
* Layout workstations ergonomically ensuring production lines are laid out optimally and equipped with the proper tools.
* Determine training for production teams.
* Monitor and delegate record keeping activities within the team wherever possible in order to assure that the team provides accurate documentation of the production area such as timekeeping, yield reporting, production rate, etc.
* Maintain a clean, organized work area.
* No piling, stacking or rough handling - a place for everything.
* Learn most of the operations in your department first hand by becoming personally involved and doing them yourself.
* May include supporting area/departmental training needs as established in the Gentex Environmental Management System (GEMS).
POSITION DEMANDS:
* High ability to train and teach team leaders.
* 4-year college degree in a technical, scientific or related field preferred.
* Spanish language speaking required.
* Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
* Diligent and hard working.
* The ability to learn and network the organization.
* Management Ability - Evidence of superior people skills.
* Proven leadership and motivational skills.
* Four years management experience and knowledge of legal employment practices preferred.
* Ability to communicate and resolve difficult issues with others.
* High in common sense.
