JOB SUMMARYThe Production Leader oversees the manufacturing team to create and meet production schedule while maintaining quality and process improvement/lean objectives. This role is responsible for driving communications, developing staffing requirements for department, and being the main contact for operations. Additionally, this role is responsible for maintaining/enhancing productivity and safety in their department/s, as well as driving training/cross-training. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise employees: Set work assignments and objectives, set performance and quality expectations, assist employees to resolve production problems, maintain accurate time records, and ensure all employees have current and necessary training, maintain an orderly and safe work environment.
- Establish expectations of workmanship to meet quality requirements and follow work in process closely to assure that these are maintained. Investigate processes that are out of conformance and take appropriate action to eliminate.
- Create forecast of department labor requirements. Provide an annual expense budget for the department, an estimate of the expected direct labor costs, and the resulting variable burden ratio. Review actual monthly results to budget and take corrective action as necessary to resolve discrepancies.
- Work closely with Operators to assure compliance with the established Manufacturing Procedures and Engineering Instructions. Review processes and departmental layout to assure lowest production costs and highest shop labor efficiency.
- Participate in hiring process and develop training plans for new employees.
- Regularly assess employee performance to Company expectations, resolve employee problems, conduct investigations into safety, quality, or other incidents, and administer discipline within the corporate guidelines.
- Establish the operating plan in conjunction with Management. The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for creating the vision for the department and setting long and short term goals for the department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Responsible for all activities that occur in his/her department. S/he must be thoroughly knowledgeable of all processes, procedures and instructions that are applicable in his/her respective department. The Manufacturing Manager is also responsible to manage and be accountable for the labor and material costs for his/her respective department or production area.

- Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequired Education / Experience
- Bachelor's degree in related field
- 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
Preferred Education / Experience
- Progressively responsible experience in a relevant engineered-product environment
