Your Role on the Team Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean, the Production Manager administers and manages all functions that primarily support production activities in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts occurring within the School's academic departments, Art, Dance, Drama and Music. Provides the full range of administrative and oversight responsibilities for the Production Office. Directly responsible for supervision and performance management of staff. Provides account management support for production-related performances and concert activities to department chairs, faculty, and shop managers. Negotiates dates for usage of the Irvine Barclay Theater. Research and implement industrial safety standards. Working with the Dean, Assistant Dean, and the Department Chairs in developing annual budgets; manages the annual production budget and recharge account Provides logistical support to the Office of the Dean for special events. Required: Thorough knowledge and skills regarding the performing arts business, with emphasis on program's specialization; music, dance, theatre and other disciplines. Knowledge of principles, practices, and trends of public relations, parts education, and community development, including skills to initiate, conceive, develop, and implement arts education, art curriculum, and/or community programs. Strong knowledge of technical production for theater, dance, and /or other live performance special event operation, including producing, production management/stage management, and operations. Knowledge of budgeting and financial management concepts and techniques. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including the skills to work effectively with diverse publics. Excellent organizational and analytical skills and skills to perform effectively under deadlines. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. 10+ years Academic experience in production management or professional theater experience. Preferred: Management and leadership skills to effectively recruit, hire, train, motivate and evaluate personnel, including taking corrective action as required; skills to work effectively with volunteers. Negotiation, analytical and research skills to interpret data, prepare conclusions and successfully negotiate terms and conditions of contracts and proposals that are in the best interest of the institution including obtaining play and music rights for Drama, Music, and Dance productions. Excellent problem recognition, avoidance and resolution skills in multiple arenas. Excellent knowledge of university systems, policies, and procedures.
