Sunrise Mexican Foods opened its doors in 1998 as a tortilla manufacturer, but quickly grew the business by 2000, adding tamales, enchiladas, flautas, and taquitos to the product line, as well as many additional options soon after.

Over the past 20+ years, we have provided high quality “hand rolled,” fresh, natural ingredient, chef-driven trending products for multi-chain regional and national restaurants, military, schools, retail, and street businesses.

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the food manufacturing plant to ensure efficient production, compliance with safety and quality standards, and on-time delivery of products. The role involves managing a team of production staff, coordinating with other departments, and optimizing production processes to meet business goals. This position plays a critical role in maintaining product consistency, improving productivity, and ensuring food safety standards are met.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Planning and Coordination:

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet daily/weekly/monthly targets.
  • Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Adjust production schedules based on inventory levels, equipment availability, and staffing.

Operations Management:

  • Oversee daily production activities, including monitoring output and efficiency.
  • Ensure that production processes comply with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FDA standards).
  • Troubleshoot any issues related to machinery, equipment, or production delays.

Team Management:

  • Supervise, train, and manage production staff, including shift supervisors and line workers.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on safety, teamwork, and productivity.
  • Conduct performance reviews, manage employee scheduling, and handle disciplinary actions as necessary.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure products are produced to the company's quality standards and meet customer expectations.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to monitor product specifications, conduct inspections, and implement corrective actions when needed.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce company policies related to safety, cleanliness, and hygiene in the production area.
  • Lead safety initiatives and ensure that staff adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with industry standards and government regulations.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline production processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, labor efficiency, and downtime.

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Manage the production budget, control costs, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Monitor raw material usage, manage inventory, and minimize waste.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in production management in food manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and production best practices.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Leadership and team management skills to effectively supervise and motivate staff.
  • Proficiency in production management software and ERP systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
