Production Manager - ScepterOverview Scepter is a market-leading manufacturer of molded plastic material and fluid handling products for consumer, marine, military, and industrial applications. As the company prepares for its next generation of growth and new product innovation, we are in search of a Production Manager who can lead the production team to support sales, marketing, and overall business goals. Located in the Miami, Oklahoma area this individual will support the production team to improve the company's revenue and operating income by leading the team to focus on business improvement and growth through strong processes, commitment to results, and continuous improvement. Position The Production Manager is responsible to be a role model and lead the manufacturing process safely and efficiently through allocation of people, machine, and raw material resources. In conjunction with Logistics and Supply Chain, this role will implement the production schedule to ensure expectations are met. The Production Manager will be highly engaged in operational efficiency (profitability) and safety while meeting and exceeding customer expectations. More specifically the Production Manager will:

  • Be a role model for your team and peer leaders in promoting a safe, collaborative, and accountable culture.
  • Ensure cost effective, efficient manufacturing process in accordance with policies, procedures and principles adopted by the company.
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring production such as the preparation of records of expenditures, research findings, progress reports.
  • Allocate departmental staff and budgetary resources according to manufacturing requirements.
  • Optimize the manufacturing process and meet customer design expectations; strive for customer excellence.
  • Review safety incidents and statistical information and initiate corrective action and/or changes to policy or procedures for prevention; participates in regular safety meetings and follows up on behalf of the company on deficiencies noted relative to plant environment.
  • Communicate and cooperate with all colleagues towards smooth, efficient, cost-effective operation while maximizing company profitability and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure cost effective, efficient manufacturing process in accordance with policies, procedures and principles adopted by the company.
  • Understanding of all Company Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedure. Ensure compliance with all legal and legislative requirements; including but not limited to the Worker's Compensation, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.
  • Ensure that products are manufactured on time and within assigned budgets and take appropriate steps to resolve issues that may impede product delivery.
COMPETENCIES Job Skills Requirements:
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Blow molding/ injection molding manufacturing environment an asset.
  • Respect for colleagues and people in general / understanding and responding to individuals' traits; ability to work within a diverse workplace.
  • Comfortable with leading a team of peers and/or professionals; strong presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word and Excel; familiarity with accounting software and timekeeping systems
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), customer service; leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within tight time frames, excellent planning, organizational and time management skill. Strong attention to detail; analytical; problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to be innovative; analytical; strong business acumen; solid financial understanding.
  • Having a personal accountability mindset; for quality and customer satisfaction; customer focused
  • Ability to grow, adapt to changing customer requirements and learn new process and/or procedures easily.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from accredited University
Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years related experience at a supervisory or management level preferably in a plastics manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
