Founded in 1927, the Vantage group employs over 900 staff in multiple locations across the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.GAL Manufacturing is looking to fill the position of Manufacturing Manager, who under the direction of the Plant Manager will primarily be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing production requirements are achieved, that safety, quality, and cost metrics are met, and that shop rules and the union contract are fully enforced. The Production Manager should have a degree in a related field and have a minimum of 5 years of related experience.RequirementsWe are searching for a candidate with:
  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Management preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment (metal fabrication/assembly).
  • Union experience a plus
  • Strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Foreign language skills, including Spanish, are a plus.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment, multi-task, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge and experience with Lean Six Sigma preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of manufacturing safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesA typical day may include:
  • Manage 8-10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with some weekend schedules as needed.
  • Be a visible presence on the shop floor, monitoring and maintaining the productivity and safety of all employees.
  • Guide a safe and productive work environment.
  • Hands-on daily management of production to meet department and company objectives.
  • Examine work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure weekly production is well-planned and achievable. Standardize procedures to improve the efficiency of workers.
  • Monitor and support intra-plant production and deliveries.
  • Track delivery and quality issues in departments and implement corrective actions.
  • Fully enforce the shop rules and abide by the union contract.
  • Support engineering projects, new product development, and introductions.
  • Establish safety rules and PPE requirements per department. Monitor and maintain safety of all employees and provide guidance for a safe and productive work environment.
  • Implement 5S standards in all areas of the plant.
