Our client is a 30-year-old family-owned manufacturer in the natural stone space. They happen to be the only supplier of their specific finished product across Tennessee due to their exclusive mining quarries. They're currently in growth mode, which is why we're helping them find an individual to lead their job-shop manufacturing efforts on a project-by-project basis. The company is slated for continuous growth over the next 3-5 years as they expand into new markets and product segments, giving this individual a pathway for career development as well.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and manage the production process, ensuring efficiency and quality standards are met.
- Direct crews to ensure optimum productivity and safety.
- Participate in the development and planning of weekly job schedules, organizing paperwork, such as shop tickets to crew and coordinating the work between departments. Reallocate staff resources where needed.
- Monitor and control daily production activity and measure volume produced.
- Ensuring that all safety regulations are always met under MSHA guidelines, to train workers in safety procedures including recordkeeping for annual and task training.
- Update daily production schedules and prioritize workflow to meet deadlines.
- Monitor and analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Train and supervise production staff, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure work is done efficiently.
- Maintain inventory levels for production supplies and order materials as needed ensuring familiarity with all stones processed.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues, when needed and coordinate repairs or maintenance with maintenance team. Observe and record maintenance issues, ensure equipment is in working order, become familiar with the working nature of all equipment.
- Participate in the annual operating budget development and being accountable for the execution.
- Conduct annual reviews and give other timely feedback to all staff.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of raw material production experience
- Strong organizational and managerial skills
- Experience in productivity improvement (six sigma, lean manufacturing, 5S etc.)
