Job Description SummaryThe Production Mechanic reports directly to the Injection Molding Supervisor. Performs all necessary maintenance and repairs on all machines/equipment in the Injection Molding Department. The Production Mechanic reports directly to the Injection Molding Supervisor. Performs all necessary maintenance and repairs on all machines/equipment in the Injection Molding Department. Performs all other duties and miscellaneous assignments as required by supervision.Responsibilities:
  • Makes repairs and rebuilds components on molding machines, granulators, mold temperature controllers, Conair Systems, separators, conveyors and material handling equipment, MAC Stacks and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Provides complete mold installation including the set up and adjustment of the molding machine for molds requiring special circuits and detectors.
  • Trouble shoot equipment malfunction or failures.
  • Fabricate special components as required.
  • Works closely together with the Manufacturing Technician.
  • Assist Molding Technician as time permits and covers for breaks and absenteeism.
  • Perform all duties prescribed on equipment maintenance schedules and records accurately.
  • Monitors molding technician's preventive maintenance records, maintains molding mechanic preventive maintenance records and reports maintenance work accomplished on all departmental equipment.
  • Observe all safety and environmental procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Understands SAP and how it relates to the PM program.
Must be available to Work Night Shift 3-2-2-3 7p - 7aRequired Qualifications:Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Injection Molding Training or Certification (preferred) Courses listed below.
  • Minimum of 2 years Technical Associate, Set-up role, or equivalent experience required
  • 2-4 years mechanical related experience in a manufacturing environment required
  • Mold technician related experience (Preferred)
Knowledge and Skill:
  • Computer Literacy and SAP
  • General knowledge of plastic materials and processes
  • General knowledge of mold design and operation
  • Good knowledge of injection molding processes
  • Skilled in safe operation of injection molding presses
  • Understanding of hydraulic circuits as applied to injection molding machines

  • IMT 104 - Schematics
  • IMT 107 - Basic Principles of Mechanics
  • IMT 108 - Introduction to Industrial Technology
  • Basic Thermoplastic Injection Molding
  • Advanced Thermoplastic Injection Molding
  • RJG Master Molder 1 Certification
  • Scientific Molding Principles
Work Environment:

  • False eyelashes, press-on fingernails, and Jewelry is not allowed on the production floor including dermals. Any associate wearing dermals will be required to cover them while working on the production floor.
  • Shoes are required to be Steel Toe and non-slip for all associates while on the production floor for safety purposes.
