Join Our Team: Folding Machine OperatorSofidel America, one of the leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and domestic use in the world, is seeking a dedicated Converting Machine Operator to join our team in Duluth, MN. If you're looking for a stable, long-term opportunityin a supportive environment, we want to hear from you!About the Role: The Folding Machine Operator is responsible for the set-up, operation, and quality of the Folding Napkin Lines and products produced on them. This position works a 12-hour rotating shift and will perform a variety of functions, such as maintaining sawing, banding, and folding operations; and overseeing the boxing, stacking, and quality of finished goods.The ideal candidate would possess a strong mechanical aptitude, as well as acute attention to fine details of the machinery and product being produced. Individuals in this position should also possess strong communication skills and be able to lead a small team of operators, packers, and material handlers.This position allows the opportunity to be a startup team member, and subject matter expert in the mill's expansion. Hands-on training will be provided, and expected, for an extended duration of time at Sofidel's Green Bay, WI location. After training has been completed, the position will be located full-time in Duluth, MN. The starting pay rate for these positions is $23.14 per hour.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support Sofidel America's Good Manufacturing Practices to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
  • Understand and apply customer specifications to the operation of the machine to ensure finished goods comply with customer requirements.
  • Program and monitor computerized operating panels. Calculate mathematical conversions to ensure proper standards are met for each product.
  • Initiate set up, operations, and adjustment of folding equipment and any down-stream equipment to achieve established production quota.
  • Perform hourly quality checks to ensure accuracy of production and submit daily quality reports.
  • Monitor and perform product changeovers.
  • Ensure regular and open communications with quality, maintenance and supervision.
  • Train and monitor the activity of the other employees on the machine.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills on a regular, consistent basis.
  • Work the 12-hour rotating shift.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Participate in meetings and work groups as applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education/Experience: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED). Prior experience preferred, but not necessarily required. Possess basic computer skills.Language Ability:Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals.Math Ability:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. PPE will include safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests and hairnets or hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season.
