Position Description:

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Production Planner to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Farmingdale, NY. This role is responsible for planning, measuring and monitoring operating limits and capacities to forecast and plan capacity requirements according to production schedules, resource levels, and inventory demand, while identifying and troubleshooting production issues and removing obstacles that impact plant capacity.

What Will You Do?

Planning:

  • Ensure top level production plan is established and aligned with customer requirements.
  • Consult ERP system to review material availability and production capacity to provide ship dates.
  • Review plan to ensure maximum production efficiency for each work center.
  • Manage daily production schedule board to provide current information for production meetings.

Scheduling:

  • Within ERP system, schedule various manufactured components according to ship dates.
  • Create work orders, identify missing materials/parts and review established capacity.
  • Run materials resource planning (MRP) process and reschedule as needed with associated work orders.
  • Print and distribute work orders and drawings to various work centers (Engineering, Inventory, Production, etc.).
  • Verify any engineering change revisions (ECN) to ensure optimal quantity production in specified timeframe.

Expediting:

  • Monitor production board for missing/delayed production orders.
  • Work with manufacturing managers and production staff to locate and expedite urgent jobs.
  • Create replacement work orders.
  • Coordinate and communicate purchased part needs with Purchasing department.

General:

  • Coordinate and communicate across various work centers to understand and develop current and forecasted plans.
  • Utilize manufacturing data/reports to drive key insights into efficiency, production rate, and other performance metrics.
  • Produce reports that evaluate plant capacity and identify areas needing improvement.
  • Recommend process and equipment improvements to optimize production capabilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Skills

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Operations Management or Business Management or Engineering or equivalent years of experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Operations, Inventory Control, Purchasing or Manufacturing Engineering is required.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of materials control/production planning is required.
  • Must have advanced manufacturing systems planning knowledge, ERP/MRP system experience is required.
  • Requires strong organizational/time management skills and ability to pay close attention to detail and effectively handle multiple priorities.
  • Must have strong analytical skills, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communications skills to communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Must be an effective listener to maintain focus and extract necessary information and validate understanding.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel and bend throughout the day (up to 50%) is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.

Salary and Benefits: $70,000 - $85,000 base plus bonus
