Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the Pearl of the Prairie is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Supervise a team that completes production and sanitation tasks. Key skills are people management, operational and sanitation knowledge, training ability, developing expectations, driving results with data, and follow-through. Ensure that all company and regulatory processes are followed including but not limited to: Safety, Food Safety, Human Resources, and job specific. Work to continuously improve production and sanitation best practices through training, standards development, data analysis, escalations and reporting. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead a shift of processing team members to effectively support safety, food safety, operations, sanitation, and personnel development. Provides a safe work environment and ensure all employees are following safety policies. Responsible for the production and sanitation of processing and liquid packaging areas of the plant. Monitor, create, and update sanitation and production procedures and practices as needed. Monitor, report, and provide feedback to team members on master sanitation program, pre-operation inspections and visual observations. Recognizes and takes steps to resolve operating problems to minimize their impact on operations. Cooperate and communicate with all departments. Responsible for managing ingredient usage, chemical usage, and egg inventory. Keeps accurate and up-to-date records. Ensure company policy and regulatory adherence in a fair and consistent manner. Encourages suggestions from employees which will improve production, quality, safety and/or control costs of production. Keeps production manager informed on operating and/or employee problems, quality, safety and/or control costs of production. Participate on plant safety team. Champion quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. Develop self and team members' skill sets to continuously improve work standards and performance. Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as: Kaizen, 5S, RCA, waste reduction. Lead and/or participate in a safety team. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of experience to demonstrate leadership aptitude. SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to train and motivate department personnel. Coordinate and supervise all department functions. Ability to supervise department personnel in a fair and consistent manner. Willing to work overtime or weekends when required. Ability to recognize problem situations and take appropriate steps to resolve. Comfortable with Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of chemicals and sanitation processes in a food manufacturing environment. Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and team building skills.
