The supervision of the production process ensures the safety of plant personnel, compliance and environmental regulations as well as safe equipment optimization, utilization and reliability while meeting quality and cost targets. The incumbent must possess an understanding of fundamental process theory, supervisory skills and facilitation of essential shift communication. This role is an integral part of a 19 person crew.What You'll Get to Do
- Supervise operation of the plant and troubleshoot for production, process control, equipment, and quality issues.
- Supervise and direct the production employees on the assigned operating shift including coaching, counseling, and training.
- Make decisions on mill running schedule based on inventory and forecasts.
- Coordinate barges and vessels with logistics, sales, port, vendors and other parties as needed.
- Work directly with maintenance to coordinate and manage the needs of the business.
- Participate in the on-call program.
- Participate in the planning and execution of the annual shutdown.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Inventory Control
- Maintain employee absences and attendance tracking, printing of weekly timecards, receipt and entry of overtime meal payment records, etc
- Support plant administration through SAP, PxTrend, excel reports and other digital and physical platforms as required
Essential Experience and Skills - High School diploma
- 5 years Cement plant experience or closely related process industry preferred
- Mechanical experience preferred
- Ability to make timely and critical decisions - able to work under conditions of stress and deal with a multitude of tasks simultaneously
- Motivation, ability, and willingness to work holidays, and overtime as needed to ensure leadership coverage and support for the operation
- Able to supervise and troubleshoot all different kinds of technical, operational, quality, and environmental problems
- Working knowledge and technical understanding of cement manufacturing process and its equipment, process control systems, and lab systems
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- 5 years or more supervision experience preferred
- College education or post high school technical training
- Understanding of the chemistry of raw mix and cement desirable
- SAP experience preferred
Work Environment
- Role operates in a manufacturing environment with moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, and dusty conditions.
