Production Supervisor - Insight Global : Job Details

Insight Global is seeking a Production Supervisor to sit in Slaton, TX for a large Rail Transportation company. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing the activities of hourly production employees to ensure the repair of railroad freight cars meets industry and company standards for productivity and quality. This role includes training and ensuring the safety of subordinates. This is a first-shift 5-days/wk. role. Ideal candidates will have strong business acumen for running a professional shop environment and be well versed in inventory, budgeting, reporting, performance reviews, and other professional tasks as needed. As Production Supervisor, this individual will oversee a team of roughly 12 reports, ensuring that absenteeism and turnover rates remain low, while overseeing disassembly of component parts. Strong communication is required, as the individual will oversee the production line and determine accuracy of repairs performed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision and Planning: Directly plan and supervise the activities of production employees.
• Repair and Maintenance: Oversee the disassembly of component parts and complex milling and boring to stringent specifications, using special gauges to ensure accuracy.
• Production Line Management: Ensure work is performed on a production line, adhering to specific time and method standards.
• Scheduling and Equipment Maintenance: Schedule repairs and maintain equipment in the work area.
• Shop Maintenance: Maintain a neat, clean, and clutter-free shop environment.
• Reporting and Documentation: Keep all reports, shop write-ups, and performance reviews current.
• Professional Environment: Foster a professional, business-like atmosphere to encourage low absenteeism and turnover rates.

Qualifications

• Proven track record overseeing a team within the fleet, train, or transportation industry
• Mechanical experience
• Professional Finance Experience
• Welding experience (Certifications are a plus)
• Ability to act independently
• Strong communication skills
