Summary of the position:
The Production Supervisor for the Machine Shop is responsible for leading a team of production employees in the manufacturing of our product. This position is for an outgoing and positive individual who can drive operational safety, quality and productivity results in a production environment. Daily communication within all levels of the organization is a must.
The position is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power US, LLC manufacturing plant in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Value Stream Leader - Machine Shop & Air End Assembly.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Communicate daily production targets and exceptions with the production employees.
* Provide the daily schedule of work for each production cell for first and second shifts
* Assign team members and adjust workflow based on size of work team and customer priorities.
* Provide leadership, guidance, and direction for continuous improvement activities.
* Engage team members and develop best practices within areas of responsibility.
* Identify gaps in safety, quality and production processes and develop actions to close gaps.
Qualifications:
Education:
* BA/BS Degree in Operations Management or Equivalent Experience
* 2-5+ years of supervisory/lead experience
Professional experience:
* Demonstrate sound leadership skills with a sense of urgency to obtain results.
* The ability to motivate, coach, and lead both hourly and professional associates.
* Have a critical eye for improvement in all areas of responsibility.
* Ability to multi-task and work on various projects at the same time.
* Successful candidate will have Operations experience in manufacturing.
* Experience in a CNC machine shop a plus.
