Production Supervisor/Manager - Position Reports to Plant Manager

Salary Range $75,000 - $85,000 per year (based on experience and accomplishments)

Experience and Qualifications:

• Intelligence and able to learn quickly, a high degree of Maturity and the Ability to Exercise Sound Judgment under stress.
• 2-5 Years minimum experience in a Supervisory Capacity in a Manufacturing Environment, including participation in goal setting, goal achievement, safety management, meeting throughput objectives and hiring, inspiring and firing of employees as required.
• Experience with ISO or similar Quality Systems
• Experience with Manufacturing Equipment Operation and Maintenance Required
• Good work habits, flexibility and willing and able to work 10-12 hour days as needed and Saturdays if required.
• Excellent WRITTEN and VERBAL communication skills
• Familiarity with the metals industry, chemistry or related disciplines is a plus
• An associates degree or higher in a technical or management related study
• Basic IT, computer and related competency is REQUIRED
• 5S and/or excellent housekeeping and organizational aptitude
• Experience with ERP/MRP planning and materials systems a plus

High Level Duties:

• Full accountability for Safety, Quality, Throughput and Cost for the Plant
  • Proactive Safety Programs and Execution with the result of an OSHA -IFR less than industry average
  • Reduce and Eliminate Quality Rejects Through the Implementation of Effective Process Control Measures
  • On time to schedule through the use of planning, organization and preventative maintenance techniques to ensure near perfect uptime
  • Cost management through the elimination of waste
• Responsible or Implementing Continuous Improvement Initiatives for Safety, Quality, Throughput and Cost.
• Responsible or working with the Plant Manager to establish annual budgets, goals and objectives for the operation and each employee within the operation.
  • All employees receive annual reviews and performance objectives

Specific Duties:

• Mostly Administrative and Could be done in the Office Environment
  • Administer the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost Process
  • Plan and schedule production worker's hours on a daily basis
  • Solve problems in group setting, be a sounding board for ideas, as well as engaging other experts to optimize decision making and problem solving
  • Interact with other managers regarding meeting company objectives
  • Engage outside contractors for maintenance, freight, waste disposal, safety training, supplies and other needed products and services
  • Assist in any other required administrative, purchasing, planning and HR duties as needed
• Mostly Hands on and Must be done in the Plant Environment
  • Observe he workforce and work to continuously improve safety, quality, deliver and cost on a never ending basis
  • Help the workforce make on the spot decisions regarding a wide range of operational issues
  • Guide the flow and timing of the daily production process, keep things on track, on schedule and efficient
  • Provide tools, supplies, PPE and other needed or desired items to the workforce, so they don't have to leave their job
  • Continuously Audit Safety and Quality conformance
  • Hands on participation for routine and non-routine functions across the plant, on an as needed basis
  • Collect Quality and Process data as required
  • Guide and Direct the Maintenance Team with both routine PM, break downs, repairs and projects
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and the physical inventory process
  • The items mentioned above include standing and walking for long periods of time, lifting up to 50 lbs, being exposed to ambient temperatures of 100F or and radiant heat temperatures of 150F or more, driving a fork lift, using an overhead crane, climbing steep stairs and operating a variety of machinery and equipment.
