JOB SUMMARY:The primary functions of the Production Team Lead include but are not limited to assisting in managing the performance of day-to-day operational activities which may include pit and/or plant production (primary, secondary, chip plant, wash plant, etc.) as well as some plant maintenance as needed. The Production Lead also assists in training, developing, and leading a safe and efficient hourly workforce through use of the company's safety policies and procedures, MSHA and other regulations. The Production Lead is also responsible for continuous improvement, meeting production and cost goals, quality control and other functions as assigned by management.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure the crushing and screening plant operates safely, efficiently, and within all quality specifications.
  • Proficient and safe operation of all plant crushing, screening & conveyor systems.
  • Ensure that all hourly employees under his/her area of responsibility receive competent task training to safely perform his/her job duties and that such training is properly documented in a timely manner.
  • Assist in managing all daily activities of all hourly production and support personnel.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure all safety, maintenance, and plant cleanup items are addressed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assist management with all daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that all plant equipment on site is properly maintained according to Dolese Bros. Co. maintenance program requirements.
  • Ability and knowledge to operate and monitor equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and pre-shift inspections; repair and/or clean equipment as needed.
  • Ability to comprehend and complete all needed paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
  • Identify, communicate, plan, lead, and execute plant performance improvement projects.
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise with crushers, screens and conveyors and collaborate with reliability and maintenance staff to remedy the problem.
  • Perform workplace exams identifying problems that might affect future plant availability and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with Plant Operations Technician to start, stop, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment.
  • Intimately understand plant flow and mechanical equipment operation to optimize daily production.
  • Build effective relationships with plant support personnel to rally and lead resources during downtime or upset plant conditions.
  • Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continual improvement, working & leading within the Dolese team to make it more efficient, safer and an enjoyable place to work.
  • Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate with reliability & maintenance team to fix issues that arise with the plant.
  • Address root cause issues that regularly cause cleanup throughout plant.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend reports including but not limited to: safety inspections, production reporting and maintenance records.
  • Ensure that a safe workplace is maintained in accordance with company policies and MSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain plant area and parts areas mechanically and aesthetically including but not limited to, crushers, screens, conveyor belts, work areas, parts storage areas, electrical rooms etc.
  • Organize and track spare parts needed in different areas of the plant.
  • Maintain good working relationships with co-workers, customers, and outside agencies.
  • Ensure the proper storage of all materials, parts, and supplies.
  • Operate and drive light and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location.
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or associate degree in related field AND at least 2 years of experience in aggregate industry or related field in manufacturing OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred OR at least 5 years of experience in aggregate industry or related field in manufacturing
  • Understanding and ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and fix mechanical problems on equipment including but not limited to pumps, conveyors, crushers, screens etc.
  • Understanding and ability to operate crushers, screens and conveyors with computerized controls.
  • Ability to read, write and figure basic mathematical calculations and clerical skills.
  • Ability to write, comprehend and maintain maintenance records.
  • Must possess a mechanical aptitude.
  • Excellent verbal, written and comprehension communicate skills.
  • Ability to work overtime, nights and weekends as required
  • Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment
  • Must have a positive attitude and proactive approach towards safety and treat it as a personal value.
  • Experience with quality control procedures and ability to make necessary changes to meet gradations.
  • Good leadership abilities.
  • Basic Microsoft Word and Outlook skills.
  • Willingness to do other work as needed, including heavy labor.
  • Willingness to work outside in all weather extremes.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, over time and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 75 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently.
  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
  • Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently.
  • Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting.
  • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
