Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.ORQualified employee of New York State and have had 45 days of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an office assistant, clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional*** title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.ORQualifying Experience For Appointment From The Eligible List: After one year of service described in the Minimum Qualifications, successful candidates will be qualified for appointment from the eligible list. Duties Description TRANSACTIONS: Entering all personnel transactions into NYSTEP and PAYSERV. Interact with Civil Service and other agencies in preparation of transactions, as needed. Prepare written materials and reports, maintain databases, analyze information, present information, and formulate recommendations pertaining to transactions. Filing and maintaining employee records Prepare routine correspondence.HEALTH INSURANCE: Review health insurance enrollment, cancellation, or changes documents for completeness; request, document, and follow up on missing information; and verify information by navigating the internet to access external websites and searching internal databases. Perform data entry, including saving and verification of saved data. Create and maintain documentation. Assist employees with all health insurance needs both via the telephone and in writing. Other activities and projects as requested to support health insurance transactions. TIMES: Creating profiles for new and transfer employees Closing out time sheets and reporting final accruals for payment Reconstructing time sheets for missing overtime Creating default schedules Changing locations and supervisor Processing of leaves with pay Participate in other special projects as assigned.The Human Resources Office works in a team setting creating a collaborative environment which supports staff growth and development. HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. If you are hired under the HELPS Program, you will be first be appointed as a temporary employee. In June 2024, if you are performing successfully in the position, your appointment will be changed from temporary to permanent non-competitive. Once you are in permanent status, your official probationary period will begin, and you may take any promotion exam for which you are qualified. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status. If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. Local Bidding Agreements will be honored. Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted by closure, please indicate this on your resume. All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
