Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Duties Description The Program Aide position will perform a variety of administrative tasks to support the processing and issuance of vital records, such as birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates and divorce certificates. The position will perform the following: receive and process requests for Vital Records; verify the identity of the requestor and ensure they are eligible to receive the requested record; review case documentation for compliance with bureau procedures, laws and regulations; issue certified and non-certified copies of vital records; respond to inquiries about vital records and the ordering process; conduct searches of vital records databases; correct errors on vital records; maintain and update vital records databases; and prepare reports. Supervision of temp staff and permanent members of the vital records team.Additional Comments Permanent, competitive, full-time. Transfer candidates may be asked for SSN to verify title history and eligibility.This position is part of the NYS HELPS program. No examination is required.
