POSITION PURPOSEThe primary responsibility of the Program Coordinator is to work in the Enlightening Native Daughters Sexual Assault: END Sexual Assault program. This federally funded project is for three years and is designed to address victims and increase the safety and well-being of women and children through increased awareness and prevention. As the Program Coordinator, this individual will work under the direction of the Program Director, directors of other tribal programs, and community partners. The Project Coordinator will work closely with two Community Health Workers (CHW) to provide culturally based community outreach, including education and prevention. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works closely with the Director of the Department of Health and Human Services, the Program Director, and project partners to ensure that project activities are implemented, evaluated, and reviewed.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision for CHW when working in the community to provide education and awareness activities that address project goals.
  • Participates in the community advisory board that informs of the project's work.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONSExperience:Demonstrated at least 3 years of experience in program implementation.At least one year experience in supervision of non-licensed personnel. Education: Baccalaureate or Masters degree in Social Services or related field.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork environment:The work environment characteristics described here are representative to those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. Limited overnight travel may be required from time to time.Physical demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. There may be prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with clients, vendors, and staff.Mental demands:There are a number of deadlines associated with this position. The employee must be able to handle frequent interruptions and must also multi-task and interact with a wider variety of people on various and, at times, complicated issues.INDIAN PREFERENCEThe Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina has implemented an Indian Preference in Employment Policy.
