The Program Coordinator will also work with the Behavioral Health Coalition (BHC) and other community partners to develop better ways to serve students with trauma and severe mental health disorders, as well as those needing outpatient care support. In addition, the Program Coordinator will partner with the BHC to develop training for campus and community partners focused on the mental health and substance abuse needs of vulnerable and underrepresented populations. The Program Coordinator will also support work on amplifying awareness of and access to prevention work on power-based violence and substance use. This is a grant-funded, 12-month, exempt position reporting to the Director of Student Health and Wellbeing in the Chesley Health and Wellness Center. The position's core work will be on-campus, with regular travel to connect with community partners. Essential Functions:The following list of duties is meant to be representative of the work performed in this position.   • Coordinate and implement goals and objectives of the grant and the day-to-day activities of the project
  • Create and facilitate the work of the Behavioral Health Coalition (BHC), which will provide additional mental health support for young adults, as well as training and advocacy to collaborating partners/agencies
  • Collaborate with the BHC and other campus partners to create and/or identify new resources and educate stakeholders on suicide and substance abuse, mental health promotion, and services available and reduce stigma
  • Host BHC trainings focused on professional development and advocacy meetings with community partners and agencies
  • Work with campus partners and BHC to develop messaging to IC parents and families about mental health support and their role as partners through Hilltop Family Connections Portal
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's required in education, student affairs, public health, sociology, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, or other relevant field
  • Professional experience working with college students strongly preferred; previous relevant professional experience required
  • Intercultural competence and the ability to work with diverse populations
  • Ability to be self-directed in program development and management
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, engage in creative problem solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others
  • Strong organizational skills and professional judgment
  • Ability and willingness to travel to attend training institutes
  • Demonstrated commitment to a student- and learning-centered environment
  • Willingness to be flexible with work hours in order to support evening and weekend events
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a wide variety of students, faculty, administration, staff, community members and outside vendors
