Job Description :
This is a new staff position in the College of VPA, charged w expanding the college's programming at Fisher Center, Syracuse University's academic home in NYC. With 20,000 sq ft of state-of-the-art teaching facilities, center currently supports the Department of Drama's signature Tepper Semester, aunique program that offers undergraduate students in advanced levels of acting, casting, design, directing, dramaturgy, musical theater, playwriting, producing, stage mgmt, and theater mgmt the opportunity to immerse themselves in a rigorous artistic program. To implement University's Strategic Plan for sending students abroad and away, the NYC Program Dir will work w chairs, dir from the college's residential schools and dept (Art, Design, Drama, Music, Communication & Rhetorical Studies, and FMA) to not only expand the Tepper Semester, but also design and deliver immersive academic program and internship opportunities in New York City that will support all VPA students, students from other Syr University schools and colleges, and non-SU partner institutions. This will include semester-long, summer-long, and short-term opportunities and programs that will appeal to both currently enrolled students and non-SU students. Importantly, will manage the program to achieve operational effectiveness and fiscal sustainability.Education and Experience* Three (3+) plus years' experience in academic program development.* Five (5+) plus years' experience in program management including: staff leadership and supervision; proficiency with budget administration, internal controls, and fiscal accountability; and implementation of processes and procedures to promote operational efficiency.* Exceptional interpersonal, communication and networking skills are required to leverage and expand new and existing professional relationships for the benefit of students' professional preparation.* Demonstrated professional experiences that will contribute to the advancement of equity, aesthetic diversity, and cultural wealth are required.* Demonstrated understanding of the professional artistic landscape in the New York City area, as it relates to the interests and aspirations of VPA students.* Demonstrated academic and professional experience in one or more of VPA's 25 undergraduate majors.* A strong, professional reputation and access to professional networks within applicable artistic disciplines to facilitate connections between academic and private sectors.* Availability to work full-time, on-premises at the Fisher Center in NYC.Skills and Knowledge* Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree preferredResponsibilities* Develop and implement strong operational and administrative processes and procedures, including collaboration with SU campus partners (i.e. Registrar's Office, Budget Office, Academic Advising, Admissions, Enrollment, etc.); ensure programs operate effectively, efficiently, in accordance with University policies, and in support of student success; oversee academic administration (including course scheduling, assigning/earning course credits and tuition processing, etc.); work collaboratively with other constituents who share the Fisher Center facility and serve as a good steward of the facility.* In close collaboration with the appropriate academic leaders in VPA, develops curriculum, internships, courses, orientation and academic programs that support a positive and rewarding student experience and achieve desired learning outcomes; maintain a particular focus on honoring and cultivating the contributions of those communities that have historically been under-represented or underserved.* Partner with department chairs and directors to hire, supervise, and mentor faculty and staff; establish strong performance standards and accountability in order to deliver programming consistent with Syracuse University's reputation for academic, artistic , and professional excellence.* Cultivate new and existing strategic partnerships in higher education and with professional artistic organizations that support both growth in enrollment and enhancement of programs that align with the career interests of our students; likewise, cultivate relationships and outreach with alumni to support mentorship, internships, and other learning opportunities.* Partner with the VPA Recruitment & Admissions Office and other applicable University resources to develop enrollment strategies and recruit internal and external students.Physical Requirements* Tools/Equipment* Application InstructionsIn addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.
