Position Summary:
Directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control integration, and completion of engineering project within area of assigned responsibility by performing the following duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assists Program Managers by completing the below tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Developing program schedules and assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications, technical plans and product testing.
- Developing program schedules and assigns project personnel to complete tasks such as prototype builds and evaluations, equipment and tooling, design and procurement, MP preparation and associate training.
- Directs team feasibility meetings and completes necessary documentation.
- Coordinates die development, quality planning and design change activities.
- Creates capital investments, tooling investments, and purchased components list.
- Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
- Conduct a product design review with appropriate people before the product drawing is issued to support the level up of the product drawing.
- Conducts equipment design reviews at appropriate scheduled time with appropriate people and report the results on the equipment design.
- Conducts a gate review regularly while preparing for mass production and take appropriate action if there are problems such as any delays.
- Present program status to executives for capital approvals, MP readiness, OPS and as required during launch.
- Understand the status of 5M necessary for the mass production and take an appropriate action for the problems such as any delay.
- Understand the quoted cost of the product and do the cost follow-up using appropriate tools until three months after mass production and/or until achievement of the target cost. Take appropriate action to resolve any cost tracking problems or issues.
- Supports PM's and AQE's to achieve PSW/Part Approval by the customer due date.
- Tracks extrusion die completion rate through SOP + 90 days.
- Leads build event and ramp up activity to achieve on time delivery for all new model parts.
- Supports PM's and AQE's to verify launch quality is meeting customer specifications and expectations for each build event.
- Supports PMs to meet capital budgets for all assigned programs.
- Development of control and monitoring strategies for special characteristics of products and production processes
- Documentation of all special characteristics in standard work/operator instructions, in risk analysis (such as FMEA).
- All personnel are responsible for conformity to product requirements and has the authority to stop production to correct quality problems.
