Work LocationIn-person, hybrid or fully remote.Expected duration3-6 monthsDuties and ResponsibilitiesWithin the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO), the Office for Coordination and Shared Services (OCSS) exists to coordinate and facilitate collaboration within the Peace and Security Pillar, and to foster an organizational culture that is inclusive, innovative and effective. The intern will support the Building Our Pillar initiative, which seeks to transform the organizational culture of the Peace and Security Pillar and foster inclusion, innovation and effectiveness. The intern will report to the Political Affairs Officer. The intern will support the team through: • Implementing activities in accordance with the Building Our Pillar action plan on staff engagement, specifically on career support, new ways of working, diversity and inclusion and staff well-being; • Drafting the weekly newsletter and other communication products; • Designing and maintaining the knowledge management SharePoint of the Building Our Pillar initiative; • Action planning and organising consultations following the publication of the results of the 2024 UN Staff Engagement Survey; • Identifying and advertising opportunities for learning and development; • Providing logistical and substantive support to the organization of the Chiefs of Staff Conference; • Designing and disseminating surveys; • Collecting, analyzing and visualizing quantitative and qualitative information (e.g. survey responses); • Supporting change management initiatives;Qualifications/special skillsWe seek candidates with any of the following background: communications, management, data, human resources or related subjects. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Ability to collect, analyze and visualize quantitative and qualitative information (e.g. survey responses);LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
