- provide relevant, actionable open-source intelligence gathered from social media and both clear and dark web sources to help our clients understand, evaluate, and reduce risks;
- inform and educate our clients on current & evolving cyber risks and other online schemes;
- identify the most prolific adversaries targeting our clients' brands, customers, and data;
- assist our clients in identifying and removing harmful content from their platforms;
- analyze malware families;
- provide cyber investigations for phishing and malicious domains;
- leverage our capabilities to develop unique intelligence and analysis tools and techniques;
- train and develop the next generation of intelligence analysts; and
- partner with clients and law enforcement in prosecution.
This is a HYBRID position and openings are filled on a rolling basis. Job Description Responsibilities: DarkTower employs current undergraduate and graduate-level students to research and analyze multiple types of crime and misuse of various social media platforms. Our programmers work closely with the analysts we employ to create tools that improve their research and analysis of crime and misuse occurring on social media. Programmers work alone or in pairs, with regular direction stated by a supervisor, as well as consulting frequently with analysts to better suit their needs and identify improvements to their workflow. Development assignments include the reverse engineering of social media platforms, developing methodologies to gather data from these platforms, storing this data long term for later use, filtering and analysis of captured data for analyst purposes, and maintenance of existing tools performing these tasks. Programmers must be able to navigate and utilize their development tools with proficiency, confidently apply common software development practices to their work, and maintain a close connection to the development team, analyst teams, and their supervisor. Qualifications Requirements:
- Commitment to work twenty hours a week on average, including 10 hours during office hours (9-6 ET)
- Completion of at least one year of college or attainment of comparable credit hours, and CURRENTLY MATRICULATING
- Proficiency in the Python programming language
- Familiarity with shell and various terminal-centric tools including git, make, and many GNU core utils
- Familiarity with the SQL programming language and at least one related technology, preferably PostgreSQL
- Familiarity with one or more common build and deployment tools such as Docker
- Demonstrated self-motivation and initiative
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to work individually and collaboratively
