New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.JOB TITLE:Project/Construction Manager Trainee - Summer 2025AGENCY:Construction & DevelopmentDEPT/DIV:Delivery/VariousREPORTS TO:Various ManagersWORK LOCATION:Various SitesHOURS OF WORK:8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or as required (7.5HR/DAY)COMPENSATION:$74,624DEADLINE:Open Until FilledSummaryMTA Construction & Development (C&D) plans, designs, rehabilitates, improves, and expands the MTA's extensive network of subway, bus, commuter rail, bridge, and tunnel infrastructure.We maximize the value of our capital investments by emphasizing top-tier project-management practices and collaboration with our client operating agencies: New York City Transit, MTA Bus, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, and Bridges & Tunnels.Applicants will be offered placement in one of the above agencies, and the location varies based on the agency's business needs.The C&D Delivery Department ensures the efficient, safe, on-scope, on-time, and on-budget execution of capital construction projects, emphasizing excellence in project management from project development and design through construction and handover to the operating agencies.Delivery manages project teams and contractors (typically in a Design-Build contracting structure), tracks project performance, and provides related support services.C&D Delivery is recruiting college graduates who have obtained their degree within the past eighteen(18) months or graduating by June 30, 2025.Selected candidates should be prepared for a July start date.PositionProject/Construction Management graduates interested in capital projects that rehabilitate, improve, and expand the MTA's extensive network of subway, bus, commuter rail, bridge, and tunnel infrastructure.We offer opportunities for trainees to develop management and technical skills through on-the-job training involving several challenging assignments and projects.This program is a three-year commitment with successful trainees, at the agency's discretion, who earn a satisfactory performance evaluation graduating from Project Construction Manager Trainee to Project/Construction Coordinator.ResponsibilitiesThe Trainee shall work under the direction of a manager, Construction Manager, or Project Manager.Perform elementary project/construction management work in scope development, design, request for contract development proposals, or capital construction oversight and/or inspection.Trainees may perform related support functions for capital projects, such as project controls or various technical processes.Trainees will also receive training in construction, project management, and/or capital project support work of moderate difficulty and responsibility.Participate in site visits and fieldwork at various facilities and infrastructure of the MTA operating agencies, including active construction sites.Manage and contribute to a variety of challenging projects.Depending upon the assignment, various shifts/days may work to participate thoroughly in all aspects of the organization.Apply academic learning in project/construction management, critical thinking, and analysis principles.Perform other duties as required.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.Basic understanding of project/construction management principles.Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.Possess quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail.Ability to interact with multiple stakeholders.Must have the ability to work both independently and within a team effectively.Must be willing to adhere to the agency's policies, rules, and regulations.Proficient in MS Office Suite and/or other comparable PC applications.Other InformationPursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the Commission ).Selection CriteriaBased on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.How to ApplyMTA employees must apply via My MTA Portal.
