The successful team member will provide technical support in the remediation and sediment/risk assessment service lines on a variety of environmental investigation, remediation, and water resources projects located throughout the United States and, potentially, internationally. Typical responsibilities include a blend of field and office activities that include project management, subcontractor coordination and management, data collection (such as environmental investigation fieldwork planning and sample collection, monitoring well installation, aquifer testing, etc.) and assessing laboratory and field-derived datasets to derive conclusions and provide recommendations to project teams, clients, and regulators. Key to success will be communicating results succinctly through written reports, charts, and technical or schematic illustrations. Ability to effectively communicate with project team members and clients is critical to this role.Typical responsibilities will include:
- Data analysis - assess environmental datasets to derive observations and conclusions.
- Technical writing and reporting - effectively write and verbally communicate key findings and strategies.
- Technical growth - expand skills by working on multiple projects with technical experts from a variety of disciplines.
- Coordination and Planning - schedule fieldwork; identify equipment & safety needs, required permits, and subcontractors.
- Fieldwork - collect environmental samples from various media (soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, soil vapor) and manage subcontractors.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Required skills and traits:
- Bachelor's level degree in a field related to geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science with 8 or more years of applicable work experience or master's level credentials in one of the aforementioned fields with 5 or more years of applicable work experience.
- Excellent writing and editing skills. Writing examples and/or completion of a test exercise may be requested.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to proactively reach out to peers with questions and to seek guidance.
- Comfortable working in remote office setting.
- Project management experience.
- Environmental and geospatial data assessment skills.
- Subcontractor coordination and management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing simultaneous tasks.
- Environmental media sampling experience (soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater, soil vapor, etc.).
- Interest to travel out of state and overnight, with the potential for longer work assignments (days to weeks).
Highly ranked candidates will have one or more of the following skills or traits:
- Hydrogeology and/or aqueous geochemistry coursework or experience.
- Familiarity with groundwater and or geochemical modeling software (e.g., BioScreen, MAROS, Geochemists' Workbench, or similar).
- Data plotting and querying skills (R and/or Microsoft Excel).
- Basic working knowledge of geospatial software (ArcGIS and/or QGIS).
- Familiarity with geostatistical analysis.
- Federal CERCLA, RCRA, and/or DTSC regulatory experience.
