In this pivotal role, youll lead, and support Workday configuration projects focused on Benefits and Payroll, driving improvements that directly enhance employee experiences and ensure compliance. Youll work alongside an innovative and collaborative HRIS team, partnering closely with HR, IT, and Payroll to deliver seamless benefits administration, accurate payroll processes, and impactful system upgrades. The HRIS Functional Project Coordinator (Benefits/Payroll) plays a key role in leading and supporting Workday configuration projects and enhancements specifically related to Benefits and Payroll. This position ensures accurate system configuration, continuous improvement, and effective leadership for processes such as open enrollment, ACA compliance, and retirement plan management. The coordinator balances independent work with cross-functional team leadership, serving as a strategic partner to HR, IT, and other departments, advancing Bronsons operational goals and compliance requirements to support an optimized user experience. The role offers hybrid or remote work flexibility, with occasional onsite requirements averaging 4-5 days a month. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Functional Configuration Lead benefits and payroll projects, balancing independent work with cross-functional collaboration. Projects include open enrollment and legislative updates (e.g., ACA compliance and retirement plan changes). Oversee the design and functional configuration of Workday modules for benefits and payroll to ensure updates meet operational needs. Implement process improvements to increase efficiency in benefits and payroll, reducing manual tasks and mitigating risks. System Management & Enhancement Configure and manage complex Workday business processes (BPs) for benefits and payroll, leveraging the Payroll and Benefits modules, custom reports, and Worker Security settings. Develop and maintain custom reports, in collaboration with the HRIS team, to enhance audit readiness and support data-driven decisions across departments. Evaluate and integrate new Workday releases for Benefits and Payroll, working with stakeholders to prioritize features that optimize Bronsons workflows. Conduct testing, validation, and routine audits of configurations to ensure alignment with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) standards and Bronsons data accuracy requirements. Perform regular payroll and benefits data audits to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, supporting accurate administration and minimizing compliance risks. Support additional functional areas of Workday as needed in partnership with HRIS team members. Compliance & Risk Management Stay current on relevant legislative changes, proactively updating configurations to maintain compliance. Collaborate with the Payroll team to perform regular audits of benefits and payroll data, addressing discrepancies to prevent issues such as overpayments or incorrect deductions. Partner with IT to ensure data exchanged with vendors complies with security policies and industry best practices. Cross-Department Collaboration Serve as the technical liaison and lead for the annual benefits open enrollment process within Workday, partnering with the Benefits, Payroll, Vendors, and IT teams. Act as a liaison with HR, Payroll, IT, and other departments to gather requirements and facilitate seamless project execution. Present technical process changes and justifications to senior leadership as necessary. Training & Documentation Provide Workday guidance and training to HR teams and system-wide stakeholders as needed. Maintain comprehensive documentation for processes, system changes, and project outcomes to ensure operational continuity. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; significant relevant experience with an associate degree may be considered. 4+ years of experience with Workday or similar HCM, with a focus on benefits and payroll configurations, project management, and system optimization, including hands-on configuration and implementation of new features or vendor integrations. Advanced understanding of HR benefits administration, processes, and policies, with experience effectively communicating complex topics to a broader audience. Workday Pro certification in HCM, Payroll, or Benefits is highly preferred. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills; adept at managing multiple priorities and complex projects. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement, with an understanding of personal learning preferences and development needs.
