WSP is currently initiating a search for aProject Coordinator / Project Controls Consultant for our NEW YORK office. The position will play a key role in helping our client support small and disadvantaged businesses working on their projects. This role focuses on assessing and strengthening firms' back-office operations, financial management, administrative technology, and overall business capacity to ensure their long-term success in the construction industry.

Who You Are
Job Duties:
Finance & Accounting Support
- Assess and improve financial management practices.
- Provide guidance on financial recordkeeping, accounting software, banking transactions, payroll management, and compliance with financial reporting requirements.
- Assist firms in preparing and submitting payment requisitions, managing subcontractor and supplier payments, and ensuring timely financial documentation.
- Address deficiencies in financial documentation, certified payroll, insurance, and lien waivers.
Business Management Assessment & Support
- Conduct initial assessments of small and disadvantaged business firms to evaluate operational efficiency, staffing, and back-office management.
- Provide recommendations for improving business structure, management processes, and project administration.
- Offer guidance on business operations, including training, workflow optimization, and equipment needs.
- Evaluate administrative staff capabilities and provide training on using software applications and document templates for contract administration.
Business Coaching Services:
- Provide targeted business coaching and mentorship to assist firms in addressing operational weaknesses and achieving business growth.
- Offer guidance on business development, contract management, and strategic planning.
- Support firms in navigating challenges related to workforce management, compliance, and competitive positioning.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
- Conduct regular meetings with assigned firms to review progress and provide tailored support.
- Track and document improvements in firms' back-office operations and financial management.
- Develop a final report summarizing each firm's progress, challenges addressed, and future recommendations.
Your Impact
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in business consulting, construction industry support services, small business development, or financial management.
- Ability to work on-site 5-days a week.
- Strong expertise in construction business operations, financial planning, and project administration.
- Proficiency in accounting software, project management tools, and administrative technology used in the construction industry.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to assess business operations, financial health, and administrative efficiency.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and provide recommendations clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project team and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged businesses (M/W/DBEs) is a plus.
- Knowledge of MTA procurement processes, contract administration, and compliance requirements is highly desirable.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $100,000-120,000/year
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
