(Fortune) has been working for over 57 years in service to our mission: to support successful reentry from incarceration and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities. The organization has evolved into one of the nation's preeminent reentry and justice-informed service organizations, providing formerly-incarcerated people with the skills and wrap-around services needed to break the cycle of crime and incarceration and to build productive lives in their communities. Fortune has grown steadily over the years to an agency just under $79 million in annual budget with just under 600 staff. We anticipate that we will keep growing, both in size and in depth of service. Fortune has a dual mission: both advocacy and service. The advocacy portion of our mission focuses on building a more just criminal legal system and reducing the barriers to reentry into society. The service side of Fortune has evolved to encompass a broad range of programs that started with employment and education and now includes a robust array of services, among them: alternatives to incarceration, supervised release, court advocacy, discharge planning within correctional facilities, licensed substance use and mental health treatment, a housing continuum ranging from emergency and transitional through permanent congregate and scattered site housing, assistance in obtaining benefits, a care management unit, HIV services, a food and nutrition program, and an arts program. Each service we provide is informed by the needs of the population we serve. Fortune currently serves approximately 14,000 people a year. Our participant population mirrors the incarcerated population in being approximately 85% male and over 90% people of color. Our program models are recognized, both nationally and internationally for their quality and innovation. Position Summary Under the supervision of the Senior Director, Workforce Development, the Project Director, Pathways Home 5 (PD) will be responsible for the successful implementation of the US DOL Pathways Home 5 contract and the achievement of all milestones during the contract period. The Project Director, Pathways Home 5 is assigned to manage service delivery in NYS Prisons and our main service center office in Long Island City, Queens. Leadership The PD will set the vision and direction for the program, ensuring it provides the necessary support and resources to empower participants to achieve success post program participation. The PDs strong leadership will be instrumental in fostering a positive and supportive environment while in-custody and post-release where participants can develop the skills and confidence, they need to build a brighter future. Supervision The PD should be able to communicate vision to direct reports and ensures that the team understands and strives towards defined performance goals. The PD carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, coaching, and mentoring employees; addressing employee relations and resolving problems. Attention to Detail The PD must demonstrate competency to develop systems and processes to organize and keep track of information or work progress; is routinely conscientious, thorough, accurate and reliable when performing and completing job tasks; and recognizes trends, detects inconsistencies, and determines essential details. Collaboration The PD must work closely with their team to use informed program trends to enhance the program services. The PD will build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, employers, and stakeholders to expand program reach and impact. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Program Leadership
- Guide the overall strategy and execution of the Pathways Home 5 program;
- Directly supervise and manage the day to day operation of the program;
- Work closely with other key staff who play an important role in implementing the program;
- Perform administrative duties including but not limited to, hiring and onboarding new staff, designing the program model, approving time off request and completing performance evaluations;
- Act as a primary liaison with community organizations, government agencies, and funders;
- Supervise, support and train Operations Supervisor, Group Facilitators, Case Managers and Driver with a goal towards skill set development.
Pre-Release Employment Services
- Ensure the delivery of a structured Career Development Workshop curriculum tailored for the individuals who will be returning to the community within 270 days or less;
- Support the Digital Equity leadership with their oversight and instruction of pre-release digital equity release individuals;
- Support with the oversight and coordination of Hard Skills implementation and instruction in-facility and be the point of contact with the vendor, ensuring we have attendance and invoices are completed in a timely manner;
- Train staff in CBI delivery and participant progress assessment;
- Ensure discharge plans and coordination of post-release employment support is completed and accurate, conducting monthly audits;
- Develop, implement, and maintain a strategic operational system that will enhance our programmatic reports and evaluations;
Post-Release Employment Services
- Work with Operations Supervisor and leadership to design a one-week, post-release Career Development Workshop, including mock interviewing and resume writing support;
- Supervise the case management services, including referrals to wrap-around services in other departments, vocational trainings, transitional employment opportunities and direct placement support services;
- Work closely with the Director, Workforce Development to ensure placements are steadily occurring and participants are maintaining retention;
- Support the staff in developing an extensive base of referral partner agencies that provide services in the community such as substance use treatment, mental health treatment, and others essential service;
- Continuously seek new resources and opportunities to support the needs of clients;
Data Management and Reporting
- Oversee data collection and analysis to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic adjustments;
- Ensure required data is entered accurately and in a timely manner into Fortune's agency-wide database, Caseworthy;
- Continuously discuss major program developments with the Senior Director, and collaborate with Evaluation and Quality Improvement staff in developing solutions to programmatic problems or issues that may arise;
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders and funders.
Budget and Resources Management
- Administer the program budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively;
- Monitor expenditure against budgetary allocations and program objectives.
QualificationsQualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology/Social Work/Criminal Justice/Public Administration or other life/professional experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree;
- A minimum of three years of experience in management capacity, with at least five years working in social service, criminal justice or workforce programming;
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred;
- Skilled communicator who is able to liaise interdepartmentally as well as with community partners and stakeholders;
- Ability to work a flexible schedule;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel, Outlook and Office 365;
- Ability to work independently and on a team;
- Experience and/or desire to work with a culturally diverse population; and

Travel Requirements - Frequent travel between assigned NYS DOCCS Facilities. Travel to Long Island City office and other Fortune offices, as well.
