Industry:

Construction (Electrical and Low Voltage Systems)

Qualifying degrees OR education:

  • Engineering – Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Other
  • Building Science – Construction Management, Architecture OR
  • Electrical/Mechanical Trade Apprenticeship Program

Job Description and Role:

The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the technical, logistical, and administrative aspects of electrical construction projects. The role involves working closely with project managers, field crews, and vendors to ensure the timely completion of coordination and design, as well as the associated electrical installations, and system integrations while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with industry regulations. Project Engineering involves providing the Field Leadership team valuable information in order to execute projects effectively and efficiently.

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of electrical construction projects, from design through to completion.
  • Review and interpret electrical blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and other trade drawings.
  • Coordinating and producing installation details, such as shop drawings, to aid installation
  • Coordinating and producing planning and tracking documents for procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery to the job site.
  • Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and on-site personnel to ensure smooth execution of work.
  • Conduct jobsite walkthroughs to monitor progress and quality.
  • Address technical challenges and provide solutions to on-site issues related to electrical installations.
  • Organize, prepare and maintain project documentation, including Drawings, Specifications, Submittals, Shop Drawings, RFIs (Requests for Information), Closeout Documents, etc...
  • Ensuring the right people have the right information at the right time.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with local electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • 2+ years of previous experience in electrical construction, project engineering, or a similar role in a contracting environment
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, codes, and standards
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Software Experience

Training and Development:

  • Will work along with experienced Project Engineer to learn the specifics of the role.
