JMT, is currently ranked #61 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position summary: Responsible to perform utility coordination duties related to planning, designing, contacting, and directing utility owners' relocation efforts as it pertains to proposed roadway and bridge improvement projects, under moderate supervision. Statewide locations available.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze SUE and survey information, schematics, design plans, 3D models, aerial photography, and other topographical data such as hydraulics design to identify existing utility conflicts with the proposed highway improvements and then coordinate with utility owners to plan, design and construct necessary utility relocation(s).Develop and maintain Utility Conflict Matrix to track all conflicts through completion of relocation construction.Organize and lead coordination meetings with individual utility owners, as well as group meetings, to reach schedule milestonesDevelop and maintain design and construction schedules for all required utility relocations.Document all coordination correspondence and ensure completion of all action items in a timely manner.Organize and review design information from multiple utility sources for accuracy; determine if design meets or exceeds project specifications including the utility accommodation rulesServe as a liaison between internal PMs and subconsultants performing utility coordination, utility engineering, and/or subsurface utility engineering.Provide continuous collaboration with the utility subconsultants to ensure deliverables are submitted timely and QA/QC is performed.Assist developing or reviewing utility agreements between clients and franchise utility ownersAssist clients by generating utility relocation reimbursement calculationsMaintain working knowledge of TxDOT's Utility Relocation Processes and ProceduresBe familiar with TxDOT's Utility Accommodation Rules (UAR), ROW Utilities Manual, Utility Accommodations Toolkit, and all other utility forms and publicationsNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsStrong oral and written communication skillsExperience with Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation, and other design softwareRequired ExperienceBachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering programProfessional Engineer License4 to 8 years of transportation engineering related experience2 - 4 years related experience in utility coordination and/or design is preferredWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field 20% of the time. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.Work is performed within a general office environment 80% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.
