Summary/Objective The Project Estimator will engage in the diverse project types we build. We are looking for a flexible, results-driven team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work and consistently meet deadlines. It requires self-motivation, consistency, and knowledge of the industry.Essential Functions
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents;
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents;
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material and time requirements;
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information;
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information;
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends/technology of the industry by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications;
- Prepares quotes and RFQ package to be estimated by gathering necessary information;
- Draft and email clear quotes including accurate details needed to receive pricing from capable suppliers;
- Maintain communication on status of all quotes;
- Maintain RFQ files by converting, organizing, and saving information according to company's electronic system;
- Knowledge of Jaynes' capacity, capabilities, possibilities and/or limitations of our manufacturing processes;
- Ability to prioritize and work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to handle stressful situations such as heavy/varying workload and order accuracy;
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results while maintaining a positive and professional company image;
- Frequent local and statewide travel is required; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in commercial estimating on projects from $5 - $20 million;
- Bachelor level degree preferred, but not required;
- Proficiency with MS Office, Timberline Estimating and OST (On Screen Take-off) software preferred;
- Experience in utilizing Auto/CAD and other drafting tools preferred;
- Ability to read part prints;
- Must have math skills; multiplication, division, percentages, fractions, conversion of units of measure;
- Computer skills; Web navigation, document scanning, typing, Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Office application competency;
- Effective and professional communication skills - verbal and written; and
- Be detail oriented, possess the ability to multitask and have flexibility.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
