SummaryThe Project Manager will oversee and direct general administrative and technical aspects of assigned Drilling Projects and will report directly to and receive training from the Drilling Division Manager (DDM). The Project Manager will be responsible for meeting project deadlines and managing project budgets. Additional responsibilities include geotechnical testing and inspections.Responsibilities and DutiesProvide clear and effective communication (verbal, written, and electronic) with CME's Clients, DDM, Engineers, Drill Crews as well as and others associated with the project.Act as project liaison with Clients, outside Design Professionals or project managers and CME.Regularly communicate with Clients to ensure quality of work, exceptional staff performance, and to address Client concerns and expectations.Regularly discuss and review progress of projects with Project Engineers and DDM, advise managerial, technical, and engineering staff of any developments.Review requests for proposals (RFP's), develop and finalize proposals, as needed.Review project drawings; locate, read, and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Planning for exploration of and travel to project sites, as necessary.Make recommendations on the proposed use of a site and provide boring layout of such.Plan detailed field investigations by drilling and analyzing samples of deposits/bedrock.Visit construction projects to analyze engineering concerns by applying geological knowledge and using test and drilling equipment.Perform preliminary reconnaissance of project sites to determine access points, terrain issues, utility issues, etc.Plan and conduct geological, geochemical, and geophysical field studies and surveys. Utilize drilling/testing programs to collect data.Perform soil and bedrock classifications, prepare, or edit field logs and review with Project Engineers.Investigating the structure and evolution of the earth and its natural resources.Collecting and recording samples and data from the test sites.Analyzing geological data using specialist computer applications.Consult geological maps and aerial photographs to advise on drilling location.Perform required boring layout and obtain elevations at grade for exploration locations.Collate data and samples and produce reports.Perform regular analysis of soil and rock samples.Perform Drill Rig inspection as required and prepare logs, verify CME driller compliance with appropriate standards.Obtain Training and application of basic survey, leveling equipment, augers, and bits used for the drilling process.Obtain Training and application of safety with basic drilling equipment with emphasis on Kill Switches .Update and maintain the Job Tracking Spreadsheet for assigned projects.Attend and coordinate project kick-off meetings as well as pre-bid meetings.Visually inspect and prepare testing and inspection equipment/tools each day; Report findings to Management as needed.Compensation: $30 - 38 / per hourQualifications and SkillsMust possess an Associates or Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Civil Technology, Engineering, or related area of study.Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License that meets CME's driving requirements as discussed in the CME Employment Handbook.Minimum of 5 years' experience in geotechnical materials testing and inspections and material classifications, or project management within construction field.Ability to be scheduled for overnight travel which is required and may vary from week to week.Must complete, at a minimum, the OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course within first month of employment.Project Specific: may be required to attend the 40 Hour HAZWOPER OSHA training course and annual HAZWOPER Refresher course, thereafter.Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers.Strong organizational skills.Computer literacy and the ability to analyze numerical and graphical data.High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Work EnvironmentThe work will be performed in an office, laboratory, or outdoor setting.Outdoor work will vary between wet, dry, hot, cold, and snowy extremes.
