Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager specializing in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) systems to join our team. This role requires extensive experience in leading and managing teams of E&I Project Engineers, Designers, and CAD staff across public works, water/wastewater, transportation, and telecom projects. Typical projects include Pumping Stations, Lift Stations, Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants, Standby Power Generator Systems, Switchgear and MCC, and site evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical leader responsible for client-facing interactions, design delivery, and resource management in collaboration with the VP of Electrical & Instrumentation.
  • Lead the development of advanced E&I system designs for multiple small to medium-scale projects, ensuring compliance with NEC codes.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff and Project Managers in E&I design and workflow management within the midstream sector.
  • Track incoming and future workloads to assist in effective resource allocation for the group.
  • Assist in the hiring and growth of the team while collaborating with the VP of Electrical and Automation to augment staff as needed.
  • Support the development of design fees as part of project proposals in coordination with the VP.
  • Participate in kickoff calls to determine project technical requirements and allocate appropriate engineering resources.
  • Oversee and lead efforts in quality assurance, calculations for utility services, standby power generation, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, conduit/cable schedules, lighting design, instrumentation, PLC/RTU controls, and E&I specifications for low to medium voltage systems.
  • Manage the entire project lifecycle, from concept development to detailed design and construction support, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and client coordination.
  • Perform site inspections, prepare punch lists, and ensure delivery of record drawings.
  • Champion quality management (QA/QC) practices to ensure compliance with safety-first design and NEC codes.
  • Utilize expertise with ETAP and/or SKM software for arc flash and short circuit study reviews.

Required Education and Licenses:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, focusing on power or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Power (mandatory) with the ability to obtain licensure across multiple US states.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NEC codes.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 20 years of post-graduate experience in designing E&I systems for public works projects.
  • Proven experience as the responsible in-charge for electrical and controls projects.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead effective teams, fostering collaboration with employees and clients.

Preferred Skills:

  • Expertise in public works, water/wastewater, transportation, and telecom projects.
  • Familiarity with tools like ETAP or SKM for electrical studies.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills to handle multiple concurrent projects.
