Job Summary
This position manages multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish or one large project impacting the institution at-large.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
* Creates a project plan, monitors progress and performance against the project plan, and identifies, resolves, or escalates risks and issues
* Manages the activities of outside contractors to ensure they are integrated into the project and that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
* Facilitates the estimation of project costs, resources, and time required to complete the assigned phase of a project and monitors activities, negotiates for resources, and assigns tasks to ensure these targets are met. Follows established change control processes if targets can no longer be met
* Prepares regular reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team
* Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and collaborates with project staff to meet project targets and milestones
* Mentors and coaches student staff on effective project management and other professional skills
* Provides direction to student staff in accomplishing project goals and completion of assigned tasks
* Provides leadership and direction to student staff, and delegates assignments/projects based upon analysis of their specialized abilities and expertise
Hybrid work options may be available. Work will be performed primarily on the UW-Milwaukee campus, with requests for remote work considered after the initial training period. Specifics regarding work location requirements will be discussed during the interview process.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's or advanced degree in information systems or related field by date of hire
* 5+ years of professional work experience successfully managing information technology projects to completion
* Experience using multiple project management methodologies, techniques and tools (e.g., waterfall and/or agile, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
* Formal training in project management methodologies as evidenced by a PMP certification or equivalent
* Experience working with Microsoft Project Desktop and/or Online software
* Experience working with Microsoft Power BI Reporting software
* Experience working in higher education
* Strategic planning experience
