BASIC FUNCTION This position provides leadership for planning and implementing activities, programs, and services to increase engagement of communities in minority health and health disparities research. The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing action plans to achieve established goals and objectives in a timely fashion. Assures all deliverables are completed per project scope of work. Supervises students and staff to assure high quality performance and products. Adheres to all University policies and procedures. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Sets clear objectives, maintains effective communication, and instills in others the desire to accomplish objectives. Analyzes problems, reaches sound conclusions, and presents solutions effectively. Demonstrates commitment to the mission and image of the institution and promotes the same through objectives and operations of the program. Uses sound judgments in decision making. EXPECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Maintain a robust network of community partners and researchers to facilitate community engaged research that enhances the quality of research and research communications. Implements strategies to assure that research is informed by ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse perspectives. Communicates research to stakeholders to increase use of research information for health promotion and health care. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- OUTREACH AND COMMUNICATIONS: Identifies, plans, and executes activities to engage community organizations in high yield, high quality research activities. Reports events outcomes. Plans, implements, and evaluates efficient communications about research activities. Supervises volunteers, students, and staff to execute events in community settings. Attends meetings with community partners and provides leadership and/or, where needed, for education and logistic planning. Provides periodic public presentations for local and national events. Maintains strong relationships with established partners and develops new strategic relationships to achieve program goals.
- HEALTH DISPARITIES RESEARCH: Supports research investigators and community partners in conducting community engaged research. Helps to develop and coach research teams. Provides leadership for increasing participation of diverse communities in research. Provides training to faculty and staff to increase capacity to engage diverse communities as participants, advisors, and collaborators. Makes use of institutional resources to assure high quality research products. Maintains archives of completed projects and presentations.
- PROGRAM MANAGEMENT: Outlines, follows, and updates an overall implementation plan to integrate activities of the program with other relevant institutional research efforts and resources. Manages and documents community advisory activities. Collects and analyzes program data. Reports quarterly progress of programmatic objectives. Contributes to the overall success of the program through oversight of assigned projects and deliverables. Maintains strong relationships with established internal and external partners and develops new strategic relationships to achieve program goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's level in social or behavioral sciences, public health, health promotion, health communications or related field. Masters preferred. May substitute equivalent years of relevant work experience for minimum of three years progressively responsible relevant work experience.
Compliance Salary Range Disclosure Expected Pay Range: $77,273 - $85,000
