Department: Project Management Job Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Grade/Level:Amount of Travel Required: 25% Job Type: Regular Positions Supervised: None Work Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm M-F As determined by direct supervisor POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for managing and coordinating assigned projects from the sales closing, throughout the project life to project closeout. Must ensure maximum profitability and cost containment as well as minimizing company back-charges. Must also communicate and set customer expectations and ensure customer satisfaction. Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Responsible for the entire project budget and projections for costs required to complete all contractual requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring and managing all phases and facets of assigned projects.
- Manage all vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, contractors and owners related to assigned projects.
- Must be able to assess and determine project factors/items that are in excess of our contractual requirements in order to maintain costs.
- Must be able to recognize and act upon problems that affect the project status, timeline, or cost.
- Must be able to quickly determine priorities to maintain costs and ensure project timelines are met.
- Analyze situations and/or problems that may compromise a project and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding.
- Review forms and reports and confer with management and users about format, distribution, and purpose, and to identify problems and improvements.
- Must be able to work autonomously and possess a strong business acumen.
- Gather and organize information on project plans.
- Must possess strong negotiation skills and be able to negotiate on behalf of the company with project vendors and contractors as needed.
- Must possess a firm understanding of accounting/financial principles, equipment/labor costing and overall project cost analysis.
- Must be effective in communicating with departments, personnel, vendors, contractors, and other project related resources to ensure effective planning, resource allocation, materials requirements and financial projections related to assigned projects.
- Must have knowledge of engineering and structural steel detailing, estimating, field construction, steel erection, welding and quality control.
- Confer and interact with all related departments and personnel concerned to ensure the success of the assigned projects.
- Develop and implement records management program for filing and retrieval of records related to assigned projects.
- Responsible for providing training to Assistant Project Managers.
Requirements SKILLS & ABILITIESEducation: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) Required, Field of Study: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Related Experience Experience: 5 plus years of related experience Varied knowledge in structural steel detailing, estimating, field construction experience preferable in structural steel erection, welding, and quality control. Computer Skills: MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook (email). Project management software. Other Requirements: Management and accounting experience/training
