Project Manager

Location: Boulder, CO (full time on-site)

About the Opportunity

Are you ready to be part of a transformative mission to address one of the world's most pressing environmental challenges? This is an exceptional opportunity to join a forward-thinking organization revolutionizing a traditionally carbon-intensive process with a groundbreaking green solution. By integrating science, manufacturing, and technology, this position offers the chance to make a tangible impact on the planet while contributing to the future of sustainable industries.

What You Will Do

This is a hands-on role.

As a Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving innovation by tracking and managing internal engineering and development projects from R&D to manufacturing production. Collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you will develop detailed project timelines, monitor progress, and identify opportunities for improvement and risks. In addition to superior critical thinking skills, you will align priorities with business strategy, adapt timelines based on lead times and resource constraints, and ensure the team's focus remains on delivering impactful results. This onsite role involves managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while contributing directly to impactful initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead discussions on current and upcoming engineering-intensive projects, synthesizing information into comprehensive timelines with clear inter-task dependencies.
  • Continuously monitor and update project timelines to ensure accuracy and identify risks or opportunities for acceleration.
  • Apply superior critical thinking skills to align priorities with business strategy, lead times, and resource availability.
  • Drive and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and maintaining momentum in a dynamic start-up environment.
  • Resolve minor and moderate barriers to success independently and escalate significant issues as needed.
  • Build strong relationships with project engineers, tailoring project management approaches to individual needs.
  • Contribute directly to projects, including managing vendor relationships and providing hands-on support for key activities.
  • Communicate project status effectively through meetings and detailed reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, materials science, computer science, business, communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing multiple projects simultaneously (excluding internships or school-related projects).
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Lean, Agile (specifically Scrum & Kanban), Toyota Production System and traditional Waterfall approaches.
  • Certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and PMP; Lean Six Sigma (optional).
  • Familiarity with using OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) to set and track goals.
  • Superior critical thinking skills to align project priorities with business strategy and resource constraints.
  • Proven ability to drive and motivate teams in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Proven ability to capture and manage large amounts of detailed information.
  • Experience with project analysis, risk matrices, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Basic understanding of engineering design concepts and principles.
  • Exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong desire to understand project details deeply.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python programming to enhance and expand the project management toolset.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like Asana, Primavera P6, MS-Project, or Jira.
  • Experience in a start-up or fast-paced environment.

Why This Role Stands Out

This role is more than just project management—it's a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of science, manufacturing, and technology to address a critical environmental challenge. By contributing to a cutting-edge initiative that replaces traditional carbon-intensive methods with a sustainable alternative, you will play a direct role in shaping the future of industry and the planet.
