The Project Manager for DDC acts as a conduit between DOB and DDC project teams, executives, and other Department staff. This model is based on DOB's project advocacy program, which provides customer service liaisons to assist in understanding processes for approval and improve the efficiency of plan examination and inspections, project filing strategy, plan review, and permitting with the Department of Buildings (DOB). The Project Manager also provides critical technical assistance and decision support at various project stages interfacing with DOB to support timely approvals and provide constructive feedback on applications related to DDC projects.The Project Manager's role includes:
1. A Bachelor or a Master of Architecture degree that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college; or2. A Bachelor of Science degree in architecture that is the first four years of a five-year first professional degree program in architecture from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in architectural work; or3. A valid New York State Registration as an Architect.The following are examples of four-year degrees that are NOT acceptable to meet the education requirement: Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology; Bachelor of Professional Studies in Architecture; Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts issued by the Architectural Department of a college; Bachelor of Science in Art and Design issued by the Architectural Department of a college.Note:A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
Preferred SkillsPreference will be given to candidates with exceptional written and oral communication skills. Fluent knowledge of NYC Construction Codes, Energy Code, Applicable Local Laws, and Zoning Resolution, and expertise in navigating NYC government processes pertaining to plan examination, DOB procedures, and permit filing requirements is required.
