Project Manager – Packaging Operations

We are seeking to fill a newly created role of Project Manager – Packaging Operations. This role is responsible for the management of New Product Development (NPD) programs at the manufacturing plant level including project timelines, project resource management, and design/sourcing/troubleshooting of new or modified packaging components (bottles, caps, jars, lids, labels, sleeves, corrugate, etc.)

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize, manage, and complete simultaneous NPD, packaging innovation and renovation, current product rebranding, or current product phase-out projects by interfacing with the sales/marketing NPD project manager, plant-level resources, supply chain partners, and corporate management team.
  • Document and communicate master project schedules and resource availability.
  • Act as a liaison for requirements, designs, and schedules for NPD projects with supply chain partners.
  • Lead in-plant, cross-functional team for new component validation; develop and execute packaging qualification and initial quality control plans.
  • Support labeling concepts and artwork review.
  • Support container, closure, and pack-out optimization/consolidation.
  • Maintain the packaging component specifications database.
  • Provide Bills of Material to Supply Chain, Operations, and ERP Admin to ensure all products are correctly configured at initial entry or during change control.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and supply chain partner interface to production and maintenance for all packaging components.
  • Provide technical support for production and maintenance to assist with production tooling modifications and/or new equipment purchases.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Packaging Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience focused on Packaging Engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with project management software tools
  • Knowledge of a broad range of packaging components, materials, and equipment commonly found within the Food and Beverage or CPG Industries
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated industry preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
