Ames Construction seeks an experienced and dedicated Project Superintendent to manage and oversee our large-scale heavy civil and mining projects. This leadership role requires an individual with a strong background in civil construction and mining operations and proven success in managing project teams, ensuring quality standards, and maintaining safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership: Oversee all phases of heavy civil and mining projects, ensuring successful completion within budget, schedule, and quality specifications.
Team Management: Lead and supervise field staff, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring effective coordination across all project activities.
Safety Oversight: Ensure all work complies with Ames Construction's safety policies and MSHA/OSHA regulations. Promote a safety-first culture on-site.
Project Planning & Scheduling: Collaborate with project managers to develop detailed work plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies. Ensure timely delivery of project milestones.
Budget & Cost Control: Monitor and manage project budgets and costs. Identify and address potential cost overruns or delays.
Client Relations: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, providing project updates and managing expectations.
Quality Control: Maintain quality control over construction activities and ensure all work meets the required standards and specifications.
Problem Solving: Identify and resolve project challenges, including logistical issues, resource constraints, and unforeseen obstacles.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work completed, change orders, daily logs, and project documentation.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mining Engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in the heavy civil construction and mining industries with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
Project Management: Experience with managing large-scale projects, including roadways, bridges, earthworks, mining operations, or similar heavy civil projects.
Safety Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification required. MSHA certification is preferred for mining projects.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage teams and interact with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Technical Expertise: Familiarity with construction methods, equipment, and tools for heavy civil and mining projects. Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera, Bluebeam)
Problem-Solving: Ability to handle complex issues in the field and provide innovative solutions.
Travel/Relocation: Willingness to travel or relocate to project sites, which may be in remote or challenging locations.
