Proofreader/Copy Editor - In-House Agency

Location: Hybrid, onsite in Austin, TX

Pay: $32-34 / hourly as W2. Full benefits offered.

Duration: Initially 6 months, possible extension past that point.

**Hybrid work schedule based in Austin, TX. Candidates will need to work onsite 3 to 4 days weekly in Austin**

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $32-34 / hourly as a W2 employee.

Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. Additional benefits offered may include; medical health insurance and dental insurance, life insurance, and eligibility to participate in a 401k plan with company match.

As an agency Digital Proofreader (contractor), you will play an integral role within an established Financial organization's in-house creative team, helping to contribute and execute on our marketing and business partners' vision.

The target candidate will help ensure the best quality for our clients, support the overall business, and develop best-in-class client experiences.

Their nimble, flexible, and collaborative Editorial team is looking for someone who is equally as brilliant at adapting to the needs of our clients and marketing partners.

The Digital Proofreader will review a wide variety of marketing communication deliverables and flag any errors in grammar, spelling, and syntax, as well as ensure the accuracy of versioning and data.

This position requires exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work with tight deadlines. You are a concise and excellent communicator who can interact with agency program management, writers, art directors, and other colleagues.

Candidates must be strong collaborators with positive interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Editing within a digital environment (Workfront Proofing and Adobe Acrobat)
  • Ensuring that necessary corrections have been made from earlier rounds, and checking for correct versioning, compliance language, and accuracy against source materials
  • Ensuring all client, legal, and copy review edits are correctly interpreted and addressed
  • Maintaining strict adherence to deliverable deadlines—and actively communicating with program management as needed
  • Developing familiarity with proprietary imagery, product names, legal language, and other content/product and corporate brand guidelines
  • Understanding and working within brand, design, and line-of-business guidelines
  • Demonstrating an ability to stay focused, manage time, and be self-directed to keep multiple tasks on schedule, work efficiently, and develop new skills
  • Thriving in a deadline-driven environment with the ability to manage multiple priority assignments

Requirements:

  • Agency experience preferred
  • Experience in the financial industry
  • Experience with the Atlassian toolset (Confluence) and Microsoft SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards You're a lifelong learner. You can grasp concepts and designs and stay on top of new and emerging technologies and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex system issues in business terminology. You are clear and concise both verbally and in writing and can pivot your language depending on the audience—whether its other teams or marketing stakeholders. Partnership is key.
  • Ability to manage high-priority projects with deadlines for deliverables with minimal defects.
  • Confidence in interfacing with business partners at various levels. •Ability to learn and understand the business and marketing functions that the team supports.
  • High attention to detail and initiative.
  • Good understanding of how your words and actions impact others.
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
  • Responsibility for ensuring prompt delivery of project deliverables. Candidates must have a BA/BS degree and at minimum 2 years of experience, or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.
  • Candidates must have an excellent command of the English language, mastery of grammar and style rules, as well as incredible attention to detail and an eye for proofreading for errors in spelling, punctuation, consistency, formatting, grammar, and syntax.
  • Candidates must be proficient and experienced with computer technology and editing online and an ability to work in an electronic workflow and track changes in Adobe Acrobat and Workfront Proof.
  • Candidates should have experience working with CMS and design systems.
