Zurich's Risk Engineering Property Midwest Team is seeking a Property Loss Control Field Risk Engineering Consultant with large property highly protected risk (HPR) experience. This is a work from home role, ideally positioned within Eastern Michigan. Expected overnight travel at 25-40%.

Our Property Field Risk Engineering Consultant responsibilities and expectations include:

  • Conduct comprehensive property site risk assessments to satisfy both underwriting and customer requirements for accounts and prospects within the designated region.
  • Implement customer service strategies at the site level to reduce loss and enhance operations.
  • Deliver advanced consultative services to customers in the property sector, identify and analyze exposures with loss potential, investigate the causes and effects of major losses, and evaluate management programs.
  • Assess the adequacy of automatic protection and water supply systems based on technical standards.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, brokers, and business partners.
  • Assist in marketing risk engineering services and Zurich risk transfer insurance products.

This position focuses on conducting detailed risk assessments, implementing customer service strategies, evaluating risk management processes, delivering advanced consultative services, and supporting marketing efforts. The ideal candidate will have significant HPR experience and be prepared for the travel requirements associated with the role.

The role will be filled at the Risk Engineering Consultant or Senior Risk Engineering Consultant level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

Risk Engineering Consultant:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Property Risk Engineering areaOR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Property Risk Engineering areaAND
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a team environment

OR

Senior Risk Engineering Consultant:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Property Risk Engineering areaOR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the Property Risk Engineering areaAND
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Fire Science, or related degree
  • HPR Property experience
  • Loss control/Risk Engineering experience within the insurance industry
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
  • Automotive industry property assessment experience
  • Strong communication and consultative skills
  • Outstanding collaborative skills
  • History of working successfully in a team environment
  • High degree of proficiency related to PC and MS-Office Software
