The Community Health Center of Buffalo (CHCB) is seeking a full time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our large, diverse, well established, state-of-the-art health center in Buffalo, NY. Primary Function:
In collaboration with Behavioral Health staff, provides assessments, evaluations, consultations, examinations, differential diagnosis and treatment planning to a select group of patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provides clinical direction to the clinical staff including Social Workers, Case Managers, RNs, LPNs and Medical Assistants.
* Adheres to all CHCBs clinical policies and procedures, including infection control principles and confidentiality.
* Assess psycho-social health status through medical history and physical examination.
* Orders and interprets laboratory tests.
* Triage, diagnose and treat illness and behavioral health conditions within the specialty area of practice.
* Functions and contributes as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Perform therapeutic and corrective measures including prescribing medication and provides preventive health maintenance and education.
* Teach and counsel patients, families and groups.
* Adheres to the conditions specified in the Nurse Practitioner Practice Agreement.
* Participates in quality improvement activities.
* Complies with all the guidelines set by the collaborating physician in accordance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery.
* Performs special assignments as requested.
* Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and protects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed.
* Directs, instructs and evaluates nurse practitioner students assigned to CHCB.
* Regular attendance is required.
* Attends meetings as required.
* Performs other relevant duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications: Possess a current, unrestricted New York State license to practice as a Nurse
Practitioner. Possess and maintain a current DEA Registration number to prescribe controlled substances.
Master of Science degree in Nursing. National certification in specialty area. Computer literacy.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years experience in an outpatient setting. Experience with eClinical Works Electronic Medical Record System.
Salary: $115k - $120K
