Job Description :

The technician will be responsible for pugging clay, maintaining cleanliness in the pottery area, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and moving materials and items as needed. This part-time position requires a strong work ethic, an appreciation for pottery, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Pugging Clay: Prepare and maintain clay by pugging (kneading and conditioning) it for use by artists and students in the pottery studio.

* Cleaning and Organizing: Regularly clean pottery wheels, tools, surfaces, and equipment to maintain a safe and efficient workspace. Ensure that the studio is organized and free of clutter.

* Equipment Upkeep: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on pottery equipment, including kilns, wheels, and other tools. Report any issues to the supervisor for repair.

* Moving and Handling Materials: Assist in moving and organizing pottery pieces, clay, and other materials in and out of storage areas as needed.

* Studio Support: Provide general support to instructors and students by ensuring the availability of materials and maintaining a functional, clean, and well-organized studio environment.

* Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols for handling materials, tools, and equipment. Ensure that the studio remains compliant with safety regulations.

* Previous experience in pottery or ceramics is preferred, but not required.

* Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take initiative.

* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

* Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

* Comfortable working with various pottery tools and equipment.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and lift objects as necessary for the tasks involved.

* Ability to work in a potentially dusty environment.
