With community residents leading the way, the mission of Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation is to build a strong, sustainable Cypress Hills/East New York, where youth and adults achieve educational and economic success, secure healthy and affordable housing and develop leadership skills to transform their lives and community. CHLDC currently serves 11,000 residents from 20 different community centers and offices.Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by strong, collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and CBOs. In Community Schools, parents are real and active partners in their children's education, the school climate is joyful and positive, and expanded learning opportunities are standard. An integral part of this approach is the integration and alignment of school- and community-based services throughout an expanded learning day (such as health, mental health, counseling and academic enrichment). Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) has an opening for a part-time School Aide for Cypress Collegiate Preparatory High School at Franklin K. Lane Campus.Principal Duties:

• Promote positive and welcoming environment for all students, staff and families
• Must be willing to chaperone school trips
• Must be able and willing to stand for long periods of time
• Support hallway and clear staircases
• Support the Lunchroom during school lunch period
• Safegaurd the pool during the aquatic course alongside the licensed Physical Education teacher
• Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

• High School Diploma/ High School Equivalency Required
• Bi-lingual Spanish/ Bengali/ Arabic preffered
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must posses the lifegaurd certification
• Computer literacy

Compensation:

• $20/hr, 22.5 hours a week, Monday through Friday
